This course is designed for anyone who feels called to teach burlesque as an art form and a tool for empowerment. Whether you are a performer, a dance teacher, a coach, or simply someone passionate about holding space for others, this training will give you the skills, confidence, and structure to step into leadership.

Yes. Upon successful completion of the training and assessments, you will receive certification as a Cheek of It! Approved Teacher and Facilitator of Burlesque & Empowered Leadership.

No. Some experience of burlesque or dance is helpful, but it is not essential. What’s more important is your passion, willingness to learn, and your commitment to empowering others. The course will guide you through everything from the foundations of burlesque movement to teaching methodology.

You will be qualified to set up and teach your own burlesque classes using The Cheek of It! curriculum as a foundation, while also creating your own unique brand and teaching style. You will also gain recognition as an approved Cheek of It! facilitator.

It is a three-day intensive training held in person in London - Floor 3, Islington Studios, Unit 3.4, 161 Marlborough Rd, London N19 4NF, running on January 16th-18th, 10.30am-6pm.

Followed by a Six Week group mentorship Programme ( one online session per week)

Each day includes a mixture of movement practice, workshops, group teaching, reflection, and personal development. Expect a full day from morning until late afternoon/early evening, with breaks built in.

- Core burlesque moves (bump & grind, shimmy, glove peel, stocking peel, etc.)
- Character creation & archetypes
- Choreography and group routine design
- How to hold safe, empowering teaching spaces
- Leadership and facilitation skills
- How to create your unique burlesque curriculum and brand

Yes, elements of burlesque striptease are included (such as glove, stocking, bra, and tassel reveals). However, the emphasis is always on empowerment, choice, and creative expression. You’ll be supported to explore this in a way that feels safe and celebratory.

No. The Cheek of It! is inclusive and welcomes people of all genders, body types, ages, and backgrounds who feel called to burlesque teaching and leadership.

The training includes three full days of teaching, assessment, certification, group and individual feedback, a one-to-one mentoring session with founder Zoe, a Six weekly group mentoring sessions over six weeks post in person intensive. Access to the teacher WhatsApp community, and discounts on business-focused online courses.

That’s completely fine. Many participants take the training to deepen their own practice, develop leadership skills, or bring elements of burlesque into existing work (coaching, therapy, fitness, community groups, retreats, etc.).

Assessments are practical and supportive. You’ll be asked to teach sections of the Cheek of It! curriculum, create and teach part of a troupe routine, and share something unique from your own envisioned brand. Feedback is constructive and designed to help you grow in confidence.

Yes, you’ll write a mission statement that defines your purpose and vision as a burlesque teacher and leader. This becomes your guiding document moving forward.

Yes. By Day 2 and Day 3, you’ll be leading small sections of teaching and choreographing. This is a vital part of building your teaching skills in a safe, supportive environment.

That’s okay! You’ll still leave with tools, resources, and a supportive community. Many participants continue developing their confidence after the course, and Zoe offers follow-up support through mentoring and online programmes.
